Punctuation Challenge

I didn't know whether we were supposed to post the puctuation paragraph on this website or on the mybigcampus blog, so I did both.  Anyways, here's my paragraph of 3 sentences and 13 different punctuation marks.

"Not now!  It's too dark-we don't know what's out there," advised Laine.  The four friends (Laine, Becky, Cormac, and Felix) were lost; they had wandered away from their well-known path and were now hopelessly lost [in the forest].  Felix ignored Laine's warning, stepped out from the gnarled trees into the clearing, called, "Hey, anyone out there?" and then several things happened at once: a hooded figure came towards them, they saw the gleam of a knife and screamed...then all were silent.

Children--how do they think?

Kids these days! They think they're smarter than anyone; they have the biggest attitudes; in my opinion, they are the most arrogant human beings of this century. Don't get me wrong; I still think they're adorable. They can say the cutest things, too. But like an undercover villain, they have two sides to their personalities. We all love little kids when they're at their best; cute, funny, innocent. But when that wall of unicorns and rainbows, flowers and glitter, goes up, it's a parallel world we live in. They start whining; they start arguing; they start throwing tantrums. Sometimes they'll throw in a little retort or back-sass, too. Children are the perfect imitations of egocentric royalty. So how do they get like that? What makes their mind behave in that way? What goes on inside their heads when they always need to have everything happen their way? It's a curious thing, now that you think about it. I couldn't answer those questions, considering I'm not a 4 year old child anymore. And I don't think anyone this age remembers what they were thinking when they raged and cried all those years ago. Maybe it's time to interrogate my neighbors.....

The Tradgedy that is Evil

Where, exactly, do we draw the line that considers things "evil"? A big, disturbing scene, like murder? A threatening message that is seemingly deranged? Or something far more simple, like when your best friend steals your dessert at lunch? Everyone has their own idea of what is truly evil. And because we know how to spot it when it lurks so closely, we ourselves have an amount of evil in us. Yes, I too can sometimes be maliciously evil. Some people would disagree, but everyone has it in them somewhere deep down. I don't commit crimes, obviously, and I tend not to show my nefarious side, but if you ask my brother, he'd say he's had his share of my wrong-doings. The consequences of evil are far more treacherous than the thing itself. One word: karma. If you do something bad, an even worse thing will find and bite you. Hard.

The Scarlet Ibis and it's Narrator

The Scarlet Ibis is a depressing story about the struggles of life and how we choose to live it. The narrator happens to be one of the main characters in this story; the selfish brother of a determined child with disabilities. Considering the narrator is part of the main family, I'd say he knows a heck of a lot about the characters. He's not omniscient because he only knows what we know and the only thoughts he can unravel are his own. By using this person as the story's narrator, it creates a sort of special tie between reader and book. We experience everything the narrator does in astonishing detail so we feel closer to the characters, especially to the narrator's brother; we feel for him just as the storyteller does. In addition to that, we can also relate more to the narrator. Just like him, we all feel selfish at times; it's almost part of the human nature.

An Inspiration

Freestyle time! The other day I watches a movie called "Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story." It was most likely one of the most inspirational--if not THE most inspirational--stories I've ever heard. It was all about J.K. Rowling and how she made the mistakes of becoming a single mother living on welfare. Then she realized she had to do something, so she did what she loved best: she wrote. After many searches for agents and publishers, she finally got her book on the shelves, and became the most successful woman in Great Britain. And it happened all because she did what she knew she loved; what she knew would make her happy. I think she is a wonderful role model and her life tells the story that everyone makes mistakes--big or small--and as long as we know how to set ourselves straight again, we can cause magnificent things to happen.

Issues

As an aspiring scholar and AFE, many problems face me as well as anyone else. Things such as what to eat for breakfast, what to wear, what to read (preferably a certain series that deals with witchcraft and wizardry), when to do homework, how to do homework, and what to do with the rest of my life face me every single day. But I'd like to say one pressing problem I have is sleep deprivation. I have dance lessons til 9 o'clock on Mondays and til 8 o'clock on Tuesdays. Then I have to take a shower, complete any unfinished homework, and it's around 10:30 before I actually get to sleep. AND THEN in the morning I have to struggle with my snooze button several times before the alarm wins and jerks me from my dreams around 6. Then I'm expected at school no later than 7:45. My life is exhausting.

Make it Readable

How do you create a blog that doesn't want to make you fall asleep? (Sorry, but even though this is supposed to be about interesting blogs, it probably won't be all that creative). You need humor. Everyone loves a good joke or funny line sometimes. Oh, and use your personality and voice. You want yourself to shine through in what you write so whoever reads it can definitely say, for example, "That sounds like Alex. I'd know it without looking at the name." Relate to your readers, too. Don't just blog about random subjects, like your favorite line of makeup. 'Cause no one really cares about that. And I'm sorry if you do write about that. Now this brings me to my next point: be nice. Don't write mean things about someone because that is frowned upon in many places, especially on the Internet. Although some people don't follow that rule...and those people are bad. Don't make one of them your role model. And if you're wondering about length: LETCTSBSETBI. Alrighty, on to comments. Absolutely be appropriate and respectful, because your comments are public, as well as your posts. Don't make the comment long. For perspective, keep it shorter than the post, unless it's like a 5 words or less post. Then I guess your comment can be appropriately longer than the post. And be on topic to the post you're commenting on. Keep everything tethered to the topic the author felt driven to talk about. Lastly, write creative comments. "Great job!" is alright, but try being constructive and focus on what the blogger wants you to.

Blooming technology

I swear that in a few more years we will all own a robot. Technology is improving so much, it's just crazy. We now have a computer that is able to follow codes and write newspaper articles. Two words for you: In. Sane. I guess it's pretty amazing, but I would prefer to read things written by the actual human race. Paper and pencil. That's the way to go. Or maybe, if you want to get really high tech, a keyboard. Technology continues to astonish me, no matter what.

First week of freshman year=complete!

Finally. It's over. My first week of being a high school freshman is d-o-n-e. Only...what? 35 more weeks to go? Something like that, I think. Well my first day was Hectic with a capital H. Since my Disney World vacation occurred during the same time as freshmen orientation, I missed it. So I had to ask a total of about 12 people where to go and how to get there. So far, my favorite classes are band and accelerated freshman English (you're welcome Fel). I love music and I love writing. Sadly my other love, photography, doesn't have a class right now. Or at least I think. So freshman year is going great! Goodbye.

Meta-Blogging

I am blogging. About blogging. This is only my second post so bear with me if I don't sound experienced with this. Although I never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever thought I'd become a blogger I think I've changed my mind. It's very entertaining to type out events in my life and somewhat share them with people (I only have like 2 followerers). Thanks to Fel, I'm going to keep on blogging after this class is far over with. Maybe. I'm am no specialist at tech things so without the help of fellow class-takers I might just accidentally blow up the whole Internet. I know you're thinking, "How is that possible?????". But I could probably do even that.

I will leave you pondering about my blog about blogging so farewell!

I have obsessions

Hiii my name is Alex and I am a girl. Not a boy. Just to clear that up. So according to this title I have obsessions. Is that true? Well, obviously because I said that. I am completely and utterly obsessed with all things Disney. I just got back from a vacation at Disney World and it was AMAZING!!! I got my face painted:). It looked cool. My dream is to someday work there for any period of time and I really don't care where I work there. It just has to be at Disney World or Disneyland and that's final.

My other obsession is anything Harry Potter but I love Draco Malfoy more than Harry. I read the whole series in less than a month. And I plan to watch the movies all in one day sometime soon. Oh my that'll take a while. So wish me luck!! Ok so I kind of have to go now so bye fellow bloggers!
